- Determination & Sacrifice
- I believe I have great drive, determination and the will to succeed. Once I set my mind and sight on something, I do not stop until I achieve that goal no matter what obstacles lie in front of me. I am willing to sacrifice some things for those that are more important no matter how other people may view my decisions. (e.g. working full-time, going to school full-time sacrificing gym time)
- Effort & Willingness to Follow Through
- I do not mind putting in the effort it takes to gain something I believe is worth gaining. Many people set out to do something but when adversity hits, they tend to let the project die down (I used to be in this group). I don't mind the adversity and I will follow through as I no longer believe in starting something to not finish. After all, commitment is following through long after the original feeling you had when you first began passes away.
- Sponge for Knowledge
- I love learning and education. I love learning things that may not be immediately obvious or that initially makes sense but later I get the 'aha' moment. I also love sharing information and teaching others or at least offering a different philosophical perspective than what is deemed conventional which makes people think deeper. (e.g. if someone tells you they are impressed by something you did, it is really an unintentional insult and not a compliment as they are really saying they did not believe you could do it in the first place.)
- Listening/Problem-Solver
- I like to listen to other people and I am easy to talk to. I usually try to help people solve problems and people come to me for advice. They know I will listen and I will not try to cause more harm but only try to make them happy. I think listening is key to any relationship (personal, romantic, or business) as people will always tell you their problems which works well for this class because entrepreneurs are dedicated to solving problems.
- Altruistic & Assessment Oriented
- I like to put others before me as I feel I will be more blessed by looking out for other people rather than myself. It has worked up to this point so I see no reason to change. I do not mind helping other people, in fact I enjoy it. I am intrinsically motivated. I also love receiving feedback especially honest criticisms as I feel that is the best way to improve upon myself personally and/or a product/service which I am providing.

- I would not make any corrections to the list from part 1. I think my interviewees support my self-assessment and I can improve in some areas. I seek knowledge in areas for self-improvement and then I try to better myself in those areas.

ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I know you are determined and a hard worker is because your at UF and in this class! Also, through the weeks I have commented on many of your assignments and I can depend on you having them done so I can get my commenting points! I too am very determined and follow through. I never quit, even when the going gets tough. This kinds of traits will get you far in life and I know that it is a dying characteristic. The traits you have stated are 5 easy things you can do to get noticed for raises, promotions, and partnerships!

DeleteYes I try to complete every assignment for my own points but also because I know it will make it easier for everyone else to comment and get their points. I know that not everyone completes every assignment which is ok but it sometimes makes it difficult for us to find posts to comment on. Thanks for your feedback.
Hey Brian! I think your drive and determination is what makes this product have so much potential to succeed. Each comment and feedback you receive you take it into consideration and make the necessary changes needed to improve your business plan. Being able to listen to others and solve their problems is what sets you apart from a lot of people. Many people also do not want to sacrifice some things or it is not the right time to put all of their effort into their product like you do!

DeleteInitially I had the mindset of creating a product and making the customers conform to the product with minor tweaks. I have seen where customers will purchase a product they are not completely satisfied with as long as it did a good enough job. I have since learned that it is more advantageous to listen to initial feedback and conform the product. I love the feedback I am provided and figuring out how to improve. That's the fun part to me.
Hard work and determination will get you far. It seemed that your interviews didn't contrast with your assessment as much as focus on different aspects of your character. It seems like in this class we talk a lot about being tenacious. According to you and your friends you embody that trait well. Also you don't see many people who actually put others before themselves, so its nice to see that that you describe yourself in that way.

DeleteYes I think it is rare now for people to look out for others before themselves. It seems as if a lot of people are out for themselves first and foremost and if they are able to pull someone up along with them then it is an added bonus. I would like for everyone around me to grow along with me which I think would make everything more satisfying.

ReplyDeleteI can tell how determined you are just from this class. You put 100% in each and every assignment and that’s something I don't think a lot of other people can claim. I personally think one of the best traits a person can have is a strong thirst for knowledge. I think this is something that is so easily overlooked and at the same time so easy for us to control. People often just get comfortable with where they are in life and they let that thirst die out. But having that love for learning lets you continually grow and I think that combined with your strong drive to succeed will take you far!

DeleteI can not say I've always had this thirst for knowledge. As I got older I started to develop it more and more. When I was in my 20's, I was more concerned with how to derive as much fun and excitement out of the day as possible. I still try to do that but I have found that learning is fun. I just have a completely different mindset than what I did when I was younger.
Great post! You definitely have one of the most in-depth posts of the class and I truly appreciate that effort! You have great skills and I think these are all very useful for your future employment or business ventures. Your determination and effort will pay off, and I believe your attitude to constantly find solutions to problems and stay determined to complete them will help you succeed.
